*Updated 2.1 model for 2023! Shovels now come as a fully solid billet aluminum shaft with the two-piece couple machined directly into the shaft for added durability and longevity. The solid design also gives the hammer an overall weight of 32 ounces, making it even more useful for camp. This two-piece GP recovery shovel gives you a few more utility features over the solid one-piece shovel while maintaining the same durability and simplicity.

The shovel comes apart at a pinned coupler, turning the top portion into a very handy 32oz. hammer with a brass fitting on the end for help with those tent and awning stakes. The coupler design is anti-rotational and fully welded for added durability like the rest of the shovel.

The Brass Fitting for the Hammer is also replaceable when it gets worn out! GP’s Two-Piece tool is the perfect camp tool

I’ve just fitted the 2-piece shovel/hammer under the Buzz Overland CARGO shelf in my Grenadier using the recommended Quick Fist mounts.

My first impressions are very positive. The shovel feels extremely solid and well made, with no flex or rattles.

What attracted me to this tool was that it combines a recovery shovel and a proper hammer in a single package, reducing the amount of equipment I need to carry. Mounted under the shelf it takes up virtually no usable storage space, remains easy to access and keeps the boot organised.

The shovel is heavier than some lightweight recovery shovels, but it feels like a serious tool rather than a compromise. Time will tell how it performs in the field, but as a touring and camping tool for a Grenadier, my initial impression is that it’s a very well thought out piece of kit.
